Writing, editing & Sunshine

Sorry its been a few days since I posted! I have been working, which is part of the problem; difficult to fit in working, life, jobs in the house and garden and writing a book – its a tall order! when the sunshine turns up it would be rude not to enjoy it.

So, so far, in a galaxy far far away… sorry got carried away then! Last week I kinda felt that I had told the story I wanted to tell. My main aim from the beginning was to get my story down and then go back and do the dreaded and time consuming editing!!! Also to add in bits of research etc that I need to do. It felt good to write THE END, even though its not actually the end. I still have a heck of a lot of work to do, if the editing of the first few chapters are anything to go by! I finished on about 57,000 words which I know isn’t long enough for a full story, but I do have lots to add – this will be proper storyline – not just filler. Interesting how IΒ  decided to add a new character in, which also means adding information into already constructed chapters – making sure it makes sense ;Β  he will come into his own in future books… πŸ˜‰

What I have found very interesting about this process, is the changes I have made. I have already spoken in previous blogs about characters wandering off and doing their own thing! but its actually really nice as a writer (I know I technically haven’t got a book out, but I am writing, so I am therefore, a writer πŸ˜‰ ) to get a surprise. I had it fixed in my head what was going to happen to a main character and when I got to that part of the story, I changed my mind and it just seemed to fit!

Anyway I will shut up now, hurrah I hear you cry! I know I still need to write my blog about Stephen king – I will get to it I promise – so much to do and so little time. I am also intending to give a little bit away about the story I am writing…

If you are in the UK or are lucky to have this beautiful weather, enjoy πŸ™‚

  1. The weather has been fabulous indeed! I feel your pain in trying to fit writing around work, family and everything else in your life. It’s not easy, that’s for sure. Hang in there. Every word is progress.

And yes, if you write then you’re a writer. πŸ™‚
